Be Irish For A Day

We may still be cooped up in the home for St. Paddy’s day, but lets turn that into a good thing. There are so many Irish drinks that if you were to drink them outside the home….you may not make it home that night. So lets go to the liquor store, stock up, and have a fun night at home pretending to be Irish with these Irish drinks.

Guinness:

You will see this on almost every tap in every pub in Ireland. Go simple, drink Guinness

The Original Irish Coffee:

  • 1 Cup freshly brewed hot Coffee
  • 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • 1 Jigger Irish Whiskey, (3 tablespoons)
  • Heavy cream, slightly whipped
  1. Fill footed mug or a mug with hot water to preheat it, then empty. Pour piping hot coffee into warmed glass until it is about 3/4 full. Add the brown sugar and stir until completely dissolved. Blend in Irish whiskey. Top with a collar of the whipped heavy cream by pouring gently over back of spoon. Serve hot.

Black N Black

Guinness with a shot of blackcurrant, it’s usually for people who want to try Guinness but don’t like the porter bite.  It takes the bite off. Blackcurrent is banned in most of America so a close substitute is Blueberry or blackberry juice.

Fat Frog

A Fat Frog might give you cavities …. but a more delicious cavity you’ll never have.  Made with Wicked (WKD) Blue, Bicardi Orange, and Smirnoff Ice, the drink turns bright green. Approximately $20 for one drink in Ireland.

Bailey’s:

Irish Cream Liqueur can be served on the rocks.  No, literally, just lay yourself on some rocks and start sipping.

Baby Guinness:

Baby Guinness is normally served as a shot and contains Kahlua topped with Bailey’s Irish Cream and it resembles, you guessed it, a baby pint of Guinness.

Irish Car Bomb:

  1. Pour the Guinness into a highball glass. Fill a one ounce shot glass with the Bailey’s and whiskey. Drop the shot into the Guinness, and chug the whole glass immediately.

Andrey Irishman:

  • 2 ounces Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • 2 ounces Irish whiskey
  • 3 large ice cubes
  1. In a rocks glass, pour the Bailey’s and the whiskey over ice and stir.

Irish Handshake:

  • 2 ounces Irish whiskey
  • 1 ounce green curaçao
  • 1 ounce heavy cream
  • Ice
  1. Chill a martini glass. In a cocktail shaker, combine the whiskey, curaçao, and cream. Add the ice and shake. Strain into the chilled martini glass.

You don’t have to be Irish to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day. However, you can feel Irish by trying some of these concoctions. Please drink responsible
