The weather outside is frightful, but the candles inside are delightful, and apparently really dangerous. According to FEMA (Federal emergency Management Agency), fires in the home during December are over 50% caused by candles. So, if you want to keep this holiday season holly, follow some very easy safety tips.
Candles Burn:
- Holiday fires are over 50% likely to be caused by candles
- Keep candles at least 12 inches from anything flammable
- Electric flicker lights are safer and a lot less maintenance
Christmas Tree:
- Your tree can catch fire if it is exposed to hot decorative lights when dried-out, so keep your tree hydrated
- If you forget to water your tree try investing in a little helper HERE:
- Keep the tree secured if you have little children in your home or even worse…cats
Animals:
- Holiday plants add a holiday touch to your home, but they are also poisonous when eaten.
- Be weary when purchasing raw hides for dogs, most do not digest in your dogs stomach.
- Try buying a safer alternative such as raw beef ribs, yak chew, or greenie
- Cats and dogs can be jerks about the Christmas tree, but create hilarious photos opportunities
- Please send them our way and we will feature the best ones on our Facebook
Lights:
- Holiday lights are beautiful but best hung when sober.
- Roofs are tall do not drink and hang
- Check your lights work before hanging them, this is to protect your metal health
- Avoid using nails or tacks and instead use hooks or insulated staples when installing lights.
